Become Celebrant For ONE day!

Have you been asked to be a Celebrant for someone?
Looking for the quickest way to become a Celebrant?
You’ve come to the right place!

Follow the below steps to find out how it works.

  • Person using a laptop on a white desk with a planner, pen, book, plant, and a cup of tea.

    STEP 1 - THE LESSONS

A series of fun lessons will be sent to you. These are quick and VERY easy. They’ll cover everything they need to create an amazing ceremony from start to finish.

  • A man in a bow tie speaking into a microphone outdoors, with another man in a suit and boutonniere looking on, standing in a field with greenery in the background.

    STEP 2 - THE LEGALS

All of the legals are taken care of by a professional Celebrant (i.e. me!).

You won’t have to worry about any of this - I’ll sort it out with the couple you are marrying.

Check out step 2 to see what the legal options are :)

  • Two gold wedding rings on an open dictionary page showing the word 'marriage'.

    STEP 3 - LEGAL OPTIONS

OPTION A) - Legals completed the week prior to the ceremony (meaning your couple is legally married before their wedding day).
    $750 (plus $75 GST)

OPTION B) - I come to your couple’s wedding BEFORE or AFTER their ceremony and complete all legals so they’re officially married on their wedding day.
    $990 (plus $99 GST)

OPTION C) - I come to your couple’s ceremony (or source a trusted celebrant if unavailable) to complete all the legals during their ceremony.
    $1190 (plus $119 GST)

  • A smiling bride in a white wedding dress and groom in a light blue suit walking arm in arm outdoors with guests celebrating around them. The bride is holding a bouquet of red and white flowers. There are trees and string lights in the background.

    STEP 4 - START MARRYING!

The lessons are over. The script is complete. The legals are in place. Let’s do this!

 FAQs…

  • Usually two weeks. The lessons sent to you will help build the ceremony from start to finish. I’ll always be on hand to help, too.

  • It takes about five minutes. Max. Your couple and two witnesses will sign the following:

    • 2 x Marriage Certificates.

    • Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage.

The Celebrant (either myself or a sourced Celebrant, depending on the package you have chosen) will also say the Celebrant’s Authority and help your couple with the Legal Vows.

    That’s it! Nice and easy.

  • It depends on the option you or your couple choses:

    • OPTION A (legal obligations completed in the week prior to your ceremony)…
It can be at a park, backyard, bar. Anywhere.

    • OPTION B (legal obligations completed either before or after your ceremony)…
If it’s before the ceremony, it’s usually in the morning while everyone is getting ready, or it can happen during the first look.

If after the ceremony, it can take place during the reception, or sometimes is incorporated into speeches.

    • OPTION C (all legal obligations completed during the ceremony)…
It usually happens during the ceremony. Some couples decide to do it while signing the legal documents at the end of the ceremony.

  • Depending on the package you choose, My Celebrant Buddy incorporates commitment ceremonies. During such commitment ceremonies, you will need to advise to all present that the legal elements will be taken care of at another time by an Authorised Celebrant. The words ‘wedding’ or ‘marriage’ are to be avoided.

  • Yes.

  • The lessons cover everything from start to finish, but I’ll be on hand to check over scripts, discuss positioning, music etc. I’ve done more than 500 ceremonies and love being a Celebrant sensei.

  • Yes, those prices include the lessons and the all the paperwork completed.

There is an additional marriage certificate from the government your couple can choose to apply for. It can be used to change their name and is around 60 dollars. This is not included in the price as some couples opt not to purchase it.

  • When it’s a rural wedding for Option B - I come to the wedding either before or after - a local Celebrant is often sourced. This may incur an extra cost. The arrival of myself or an outsourced celebrant may depend on what other weddings we have on that day.

  • Paul was outstanding. We were able to have my brother officiate our wedding which was extra special. Although Paul is based in Melbourne and we’re in Townsville, QLD, he made the process easy on myself as a bride and my brother as the officiant.

  • When Paul explained the idea of 'my celebrant buddy' we were instantly sold. My grandfather is one of my closest friends and after looking for a way to have him be a part of our day Paul had given us the perfect solution.

  • When Paul wasn't available on our date he suggested using a celebrant buddy and we were instantly keen to do it. We had a great friend in mind for this and Paul was there for support the whole way through. My wife had questions during the process and Paul was always happy to answer them. Great experience and really glad went ahead with it.
